General and Selected Specific Strength Exercises for Shot Putters

Abstract :

This article describes about the exercises and training aspects of putters especially on strength. Strength training is a program designed to develop strength and /or endurance through a series of progressive resistance (weight) training exercises that overload the muscle system and cause physiological development. Strength (explosive and maximum) is highly dominated for putters which could be developed and concentrated at every training periods. Even it is vary based on the age, sex, training experience, level of fitness and the level of performances. This should not ignore at any cost even for beginners and girls too. There are many forms to improve strength parameters such as own body weight exercise, exercise with dumb bell, exercise with medicine ball, exercise with barbell, exercise with kettle bell, exercise with partner, exercise with weights and using equipments viz. elastic band, hurdles, staircase, wall bar and some gymnastics equipments and etc. The coach’s attention now a day towards the developing and tuning the specific muscle and muscle groups of the specific event. The author expresses his intention towards some of the basic elements and exercises to develop strength aspects of the putters and which would be highly useful for the coaches and trainers for general strength of the throwers.
